Construction

  • Students will prepare for entry level jobs in the residential and commercial building industry.
  • Instructional training will be offered in plans, material and labor costs, ordering materials, work layout, and use of hand and power tools.
  • This program will provide opportunities for students develop skills required to complete many tasks involved in building, from drawing board to finish.
  • Students will learn the use of hand and power tools, project planning, code requirements and the permit process.
  • Students will also develop workability skills to successfully enter the world of work.
  • The course is open to juniors and seniors and anyone 16 years or older. Class is two hours daily for two semesters (360 hours).
  • The Building Construction Class provides students with entry-level skills in the following areas:
    • Electrician
    • Painter & Paperhanger
    • Carpenter/Framer
    • Cement Mason
    • Construction Laborer
    • Drywall Installer & Lather
    • Insulation Worker
    • Plasterer
    • Roofer
    • Sheet Metal Worker
    • Structural Metal Worker
    • Tile Setter
